The Agile Project Professional role is part of the Project Management Office (PMO), which facilitate our agile project management practices and initiatives for continuous improvement at Zalando’s engineering department with a staff of more than 600 employees.The PMO provides a home port for our project managers who unlock organizational capabilities through efficient management of strategic projects and programs.

In a nutshell, the goals of the PMO are as follows:

Developing project management competencies in project teams through guidance, tools and techniques.

  • Increasing project management professionalization and maturity of the entire department.
  • Supporting and managing complex projects and programs.
  • Fostering new ways of collaboration across functions, hierarchies and departments.

Accountabilities:

  • Managing and supporting complex projects and programs as Project Lead, cross functional with several international teams.
  • Analytical and process-thinking skills to conduct workshops for analysis and mapping of organizational processes and principles.
  • Teaching, training and coaching of our younger Project Leads in applying agile/lean as well as classic project management tools and techniques and good practices.
  • Hands on management in current projects in moderating workshops like Project Chartering, Scoping Estimating, Risk Management, Lesson Learned
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of our Project Management Framework, Artefacts & Templates
  • Increasing project management professionalization and maturity of the entire department.
  • Fostering new ways of collaboration across functions, hierarchies and departments.

Desired skills and experience:

  • A solid experience in project management with deep learnings about critical success factors
  • Profound knowledge in complex IT systems and agile software development
  • Deep understanding of the principles and dynamics beyond the Project Management Standards
  • Project management certification such as PMP, PMI-ACP, IMPA, Prince2 or equivalent considered a big plus.
  • Self-driven and goal orientated with the ability to lead in dynamic environments being intuitive
  • Strong human skills and the capability to reflect and adapt yourself by the feedback of your environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in English.
  • Facilitator of forward management like Management 3.0, Holacracy, Tribes & Chapters and other agile leadership and complexity management practices
  • College or university degree in Computer Sciences, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field.
